Amarillo CVC Staff Selected for State Boards
Jerry Holt, Vice President of the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council, and Jutta Matalka, Director of Tourism of the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council and the Amarillo Film Commission, have been named by colleagues to state boards in the tourism industry.
Holt has been named by the Office of the Governor to the state’s Tourism Advisory Committee. His term is for two years, from September 2005 through August 2007. He joins several dozen tourism professionals on this high-level advisory board for the governor of Texas.
Holt has been head of the Amarillo CVC since October 1993. He is very active in the state tourism industry, previously serving two terms as chairman of the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus as well as being an active board member for the Texas Travel Industry Association.
Matalka was elected by her colleagues to the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus. This is the largest state CVB organization in the nation with over 270 members. Her term is from August 2005 to August 2006.
Matalka joined the Amarillo CVC in 1995. She has over 30 years experience in tourism. In 2002, she received the Golden Helm Award at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin, considered the largest tourism trade show in the world. Recently, she completed a video history project to celebrate and outline TACVB’s 30 year history.
