Want to listen to some chamber music but don't know when the next concert will be? Visit www.artsinamarillo.com.
Starting in October, the answer to almost every question about the Amarillo arts scene, both performing and visual arts, will be at this new web site sponsored by the Arts Committee of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce.
"The Chamber's Arts Committee is the advocate for the arts in Amarillo. From major groups like the Amarillo Symphony or Amarillo Little Theater to smaller organizations like Chamber Music Amarillo and the Amarillo Youth Choir, we are always looking for new ways to reach people about our thriving arts scene," Jim Kemp, chair of the Arts Committee, explains.
"This web site seems like the perfect approach at the right time, especially to reach younger arts fans, particularly those in their 20s," Kemp said.
The unique approach for www.artsinamarillo.com will be as a comprehensive calendar, designed to give the surfer a good picture about what concerts, events and shows are planned during any given period this fall and winter.
Using pleasing muted colors combined with a classic capitol "A" on the site's home page, this digital calendar will be easy for arts patrons to use. And once an arts patron, or patron-to-be, finds an event of his or her liking, in most cases it will be very easy to purchase tickets on the spot. If the surfer needs more information on an arts organization, that will be a quick link away.
A link to the new Arts in Amarillo website can be found on the Amarillo CVC homepage at www.visitamarillotx.com.
The new arts web site has been designed by RC&P Advertising and built by Backyard Design, both of Amarillo. All Amarillo arts organizations are welcome to supply their basic information and performance or show schedule at no charge. Extra levels of exposure on the web site will be available for minimal fees. If you have any questions about listing an arts event, contact Becky Zenor at the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce at becky@amarillo-chamber.org.
The new web site replaces a previous television outreach effort, Arts on the Arts, sponsored by the Arts Committee and aired on local television for the past five years.
"The Arts Committee enjoyed our affiliation with KFDA NewsChannel10 and we appreciate their help in communicating the exciting things happening in Amarillo," Kemp said
