USTPA National Finals Boasts $500,000 in Prizes
The United States Team Penning Association (USTPA) will host its annual National Finals in Amarillo, Texas, October 29-November 5 at the Amarillo National Center. More than 1,500 teams from across North America will compete over the seven-day show.
Team penning requires a team of three riders to select three like-numbered cattle from a herd of 30 and move them to a small pen at the opposite end of the arena as fast as possible.
“This is the highlight of our year at USTPA and Amarillo serves as an excellent host,” said USTPA President Gary Fletcher.
The event concludes November 5 with the Championship Grand Finals and the naming of the American Quarter Horse Association USTPA National Horse of the Year.
Admission is free every day of the event, including the Grand Finals.
10th World Championship Ranch Rodeo is Nov. 10-13
Cowboys and cowgirls from ranches across the western U.S. will be in town for the 10th Anniversary World Championship Ranch Rodeo, sponsored by the Working Ranch Cowboy Association (WRCA). These men and women are the real deal, still patrolling the wide open spaces on horseback at all hours of the day and in all kinds of weather.
The ranch rodeo events, such as team branding, wild cow milking and team penning, have their roots in the regular ranch chores of 100 years ago, many of which are still performed today.
Rodeo performances are in the evening of Nov. 10, 11 and 12 with a final matinee performance scheduled for 2 p.m. on Nov. 13. Other cowboy events include a top-notch cowboy art show and sale, an authentic bit and spur show, cowboy poetry and music performances, Pokey the Clown’s Jr. Ranch Rodeo and a ranch exposition trade show.
All events are under one roof in the Amarillo Civic Center and all events are included in one ticket price.
Tickets are available through Panhandle Tickets either on-line at www.panhandletickets.com or over the phone at 806-378-3096.
