The National Finals Steer Roping, a World Championship event sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), returns to Amarillo, TX during the "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping" November 18, 19, & 20, 2005. The NFSRcontestants will compete in a total of ten go-rounds during three performances of the "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping". The 2005 PRCA World Champion Steer Roper will be crowned at the Amarillo National Center on Sunday, November 20, 2005.

Currently, 18-time World Champion Guy Allen of Santa Anna, TX is leading the PRCA World Standings with $63,680. Allen has won three of his eighteen World Championships at the Amarillo National Center Arena.

There are three steer ropers coming to the 47th PRCA National Finals Steer Roping (NFSR) who have qualified for the first time- Doug Clark, Wayne, OK; Lawson Plemons, Chilton, TX; and 2005 PRCA Steer Roping Rookie of the Year Cody Scheck, Buffalo, OK. These ropers will be competing with NFSR veterans Guy Allen, Santa Anna, TX; Trevor Brazile, Decatur, TX; Scott Snedecor, Uvalde, TX; Rocky Patterson, Pratt, KS; Buster Record, Buffalo, OK; J P Wickett, Sallisaw, OK; Tee Woolman, Llano, TX; Rod Hartness, Pawhuska, OK; Cash Myers, Athens, TX; Vin Fisher, Andrews, TX; Jarrett Blessing, Paradise, TX; and Will Yoakum, Llano, TX.

The NFSR is the third major Western equine competition in a row in Amarillo, following the US Team Penning Association National Finals and the Working Ranch Cowboy Association World Championship Ranch Rodeo. Amarillo’s own American Quarter Horse Association is among national PRCA sponsors contributing to the NFSR prize money purse.

The 5th Annual NFSR Trade Show will be open during all performances of the "Amarillo Showcase of Championship Roping.” With over 30 booths full of all types of merchandise, the NFSR Trade Show is the perfect place for event attendees to get started on their Christmas lists.
