Chase Tower
Chase Tower is in downtown Amarillo at the corner of Tyler and 7th Sts. At 31 stories tall it is the tallest building between Fort Worth and Denver and Oklahoma City and Albuquerque. It can be seen from all across Amarillo.
In 2008, the new Amarillo Center for West Texas A&M University moved into the Chase Tower, serving more than 500 college students. After the Chase Tower was completed in 1971, the city fathers allowed that they would "fight with a vengeance" the construction of any more tall buildings in downtown Amarillo. Why? To preserve our wide open spaces and our beautiful sunsets!
